The Journey from the port of Piraeus or Rafina it is 5 hours with regular boats or 3 hours with speedboats.With airplane the journey is 35 minutes. It is 90 Nautical miles away from Piraeus , the main port of Athens . It has about 12.000 inhabitants, its extension is 186,5 square kilometers and the length of its shores is 120 kilometers. The highest peak is the mountain of Saint Pantes with 770 meters height. The capital town of the island is Parikia, in which there is the famous, 17 centuries old, church of Ekatontapiliani (the church with the hundred doors), the Frankish Castle and the archeological Museum.

There are some Monasteries and many small churches. The roads and streets of Paros are very good and you can make the round of the island in less than 1 hour and 30 minutes. The biggest villages of Paros are the following: Parikia, Naoussa, Lefkes, Marpissa, Piso Livadi, Drios, Aliki, Punda, Marathi and Kostos. At the small village of Marathi there are the ancient quarries of the famous for its whiteness, Parian marbles. The recent years the island has become one of the most cosmopolitan islands of Greece . Here people can find good nightlife, taverns, ouzeri and enjoy with many kinds of water sports such as: Windsurfing, Jet ski, Sailing, Scuba diving and other more. Paros is very well known for its many, sandy beaches with its clear water. The most good are: Marchelo, Kolimpithres, Santa Maria , Livadia, Parasporos, Golden Beach , Punda, Krios and Logaras. Near the monastery of Saint Arsenios there is a beautiful field with plants and trees that is called: Petaloudes (butterflies Valley), which every summer is full of many kind and colors butterflies. In the island of Antiparos , that is only 7 minutes away by boat from Paros , there is the famous Cave of Antiparos. Festival and Activities of Paros
EASTER: At the village of Marpissa between the months of April and May in the evening after the divine service, the inhabitants of the village are making representations of the most important events of Christ's life.
9 JUNE: Celebration of the Saint Nicolas church in the small harbor of Piso Livadi (Ascension Day) where there are live traditional songs and seafood for everyone.
11 & 12 JUNE: Celebration in the traditional village of Lefkes with traditional songs and food.
1 JULY: Celebration of the Monastery of Saint Anargiri with the magnificent view of the gulp of Parikia, where there is celebration with traditional music and food.
AUGUST: Between 5 and 20 of August every year, there is the World championship of WINDSURFING - PWA at the beach of New Golden Beach.
15 AUGUST: Celebration of the Blessed Virgin Mary and of the 17 th centuries old Ekatontapiliani church in Parikia. After the divine service, at about 9 p.m. , the sky becomes full of lights from the hundred of fireworks that the fishing boats throw from the gulp of Parikia.
23 AUGUST: Representation of the pirates coming into the village of Naoussa and steal the villages most beautiful girls. After everyone is having fun eating seafood and wine while people of the village, wearing traditional clothes, are dancing traditional songs.
4 SEPTEMBER: Traditional representation of Pezotrata custom. It is offered to everyone fresh fish, Parian traditional food and wine. Live music and presentation of dancing music groups.
Between the months May and September, there are also other festivals and activities such as: concerts, congresses, painting and photograph exhibitions, sports and much more.
